Love it, hate it or "Huh, what's that?"
Contemporary Christian Music (or CCM; also by its religious neutral term "inspirational music") is a genre of popular music which is lyrically focused on matters concerned with the Christian faith. - Wikipedia
If you listen to this, shout it out. I listen to:
Heavily- at least 2 CDs:
* Jars of Clay
* Delirious?
* Steven Curtis Chapman
* Tree63
* 4Him
* Avalon
* DCTalk
* Michael W Smith
* Sonicflood
Occasionally - random songs
* Ginny Owens
* Chris Rice
* Caedman's Call
* FFH
* Earthsuit
* Red
* Raze
* ZoeGirl
* Switchfoot
* John Rueben
* Jaci Velasquez
* Veggie Tales (the silly songs are so funny! XDDD)
* Plus One
* Hawk Nelson
* Newsboys
And many more random songs......
I classify HillSongs, Don Moen, Paradise Live and Petra Praise as contemporary worship music.

For me, I love Don Moen songs.
I prefer those slower type and meaningful songs. |

I notice they sang an old favorite of mine written and performed by the group "Casting Crowns" at church this last Sunday. My favorite line in that song is "Not because of what I've done...but because of who You are..." And then it rolls into the chorus.
There are many songs sung by contemporary Christian artists that speak to me. I listen to a listener supported all music station called KLove through the internet all the time. If your interested, just plug Klove into Google and it should come right up. Here is a list of songs and artists that have been played lately that I personally recommend:
Yes You Have, Leeland
Empty Me, Chris Sly
One of These Days, FFH
Blessed Be Your Name, 363
Set the World on Fire, Britt Nicole
Revolution Love, David Crowder Band
Keeping Me Alive, Afters
You, Afters
My Savior Love, Aaron Shust
Song of Hope, Robbie Seay Band
Jesus Messiah, Chris Tomlin
I Am, Mark Shultz
Remember Me, Mark Shultz and …
We’d Be Held, Natalie Grant
I will not be moved, Natalie Grant
In Better Hands Now, Natalie Grant
You Never Let Go, David Crowder Band
Your Grace is Enough, Matt Mar
Dancing with My Father God, Big Daddy Weave
Grace Like Rain, Todd Agnew
Inside Outside, Delirious?
You Reign, MercyMe
Tunnel, Third Day
Whatever You’re Doing, Sanctus Real
You Carried Me, Building 249
Does Anybody Hear Her, Casting Drowns
Dance with Cinderella, Stephen Curtis Chapman
True Love, Phil Wickham
Legacy, Nicole Nordeman
My favorite artist has been Nicole Nordeman. I own all of her albums and the words of her songs perk my heart in ways that no one else can. My favorite song of hers is "Sunrise." |

The Casting Crowns song we sang was "Who Am I".
If you noticed, Yachad (the band that was leading worship that Sunday) had a new member: the young man who sang the first part of that song solo. His name is Kee Onn (not to be mistaken with Pastor Kee Oon, hehe) and that was the song he sang for his audition for Yachad.
I sang it at the church retreat in Port **** and had wanted to do it again when we got back but God said it wasn't the right time and so I waited. It seems so right that when God said the song was right on that Sunday, Kee Onn was also debuting with us and it just fit like a glove that he should also lead us in that song.
As for the thread topic, I'm drawn to all manner of songs that praise and worship God, many of which are not very congregation friendly so we don't sing them in church. I like stuff from many of the contemporary artists already mentioned and also worship songs by African choirs in both their native and English languages. _________________ To an optimist, the glass is half full;

Uhm my most recent CCM purchases would be 1) Canadian band Downhere's Wide Eyed & Mystified 2) UK band Delirious' Kingdom of Comfort and 3) Steven Curtis Chapman's Cinderella. Our church retreat could have used the Cinderella song as one of the 'God as our Father' theme. Seriously.
I will now go on a personal mission to hunt for Jars of Clay's latest in Singapore: Long Fall Back on Earth. _________________
